Mr. Riggs Shiraz is a blend of three great Shiraz vineyards; ‘Breakneck Creek’ and ‘Penny’s Hill’, (across the road from each other) from the central foothills near the Eastern boundary of the district, and ‘Quandong Farm’, which is situated in the central Seaview subregion. The vineyards are owned/ managed by three of the best-known McLaren Vale growers, namely Ian Leask (Breakneck Creek), David Paxton (Quandong Farm) and Tony Parkinson (Penny’s Hill). All of the components of the Mr. Riggs Shiraz were fermented in open fermenters and finished fermentation after pressing in oak. The wine was aged for 20 months in 80% French oak and 20% American (of which 40% was new).
